Implantation
What are the implantation benefits as compared with conventional bridge prostheses?
In order to install a conventional bridge prosthesis a dentist shall face adjacent healthy teeth thus inflicting irreparable damage. Besides, abutment teeth shall bear excessive load. And, what is essential, absence of teeth leads to bone tissue atrophy. Implants not only allow preserving adjacent teeth healthy, but also completely restoring the oral cavity structure. Besides, implantation helps patients forget for ever about removable prostheses.
Are there any contraindications to implantation?
The contraindications are very few. Neither parodontosis, nor diabetes mellitus (unless in a severe form), nor bone tissue atrophy as a result of a long-term teeth absence are currently considered the contraindications to implantation. Implantation is not recommended to patients with serious blood diseases (such as leucosis), after chemical therapy, with heavy systemic diseases and psychiatric disorders.
What is a dental implant?
|
A dental implant is an artificial root tooth substitute. The implantation method is based on the professor's Branemark's finding that titan is biocompatible with bone tissue and is a perfect materials for osseointegration. A titan implant coalesces with the live maxillary tissue providing a steady and functional support for the crown part. |
Are there any age-related limitations?
|
There is no upper limit for implantation! Implants successfully take root even at 80. The only limitation is that implantation is not performed for patients under 17-18 years, since at this age, the process of bone tissue formation is still underway. |
What does the implantation procedure consists of?
The implant installation process is painless and quick: installation of a single implant takes about 15 minutes, 7-8 implants — 1.5 hours. The procedures is performed under local anesthesia. On patient's request, absent any contraindications, the operation is performed under general anesthesia.
After implantation, certain time is taken by the integration process, whereat the crown part is put on the implant. However, there are current methodologies providing for crown installation immediately after implantation.
How does an implanted tooth look like?
|
The phenomenon of modern implantation is that the artificial tooth looks, feels and functions just like a live one immediately after implant installation. The properties of modern cermet structures allow achieving ideal esthetic results and convey the full color and transparence of a live tooth. |
How long will implants last?
In fact, it is difficult to precisely predict how long an implant will last — 10, 20 years or more. Considering that the AGAMI clinic uses the best modern titan implants only (9 different systems), which are absolutely biocompatible, have no contraindications and cause no rejection, the new teeth lifetime increases significantly. And of course, the oral cavity health and the lifetime of your new teeth will depend on the quality of oral hygiene.
May implants be installed to everybody?
|
In many clinics, patients referring for implantation are rejected due to bone tissue atrophy after a long-term teeth absence. For such patients, the AGAMI Clinic offers osteoplasty — bone augmentation with the PRP technology. This is the most recent development of biomolecular technologies which allows, in 9 minutes, having prepared a plastic mixture with growth factors made of the patient's own blood immediately before the operation and added to the implant installation area. The use of this method not only helps decrease the implant integration period, but also guarantees their transplantability. |
